The questions that remain.
A short answer is a starting point. Keep the exact medicine and your own reason for seeking care in the conversation.
Is peptide treatment a real thing?
Yes, some peptide medicines have FDA approval. Each medicine gets a separate review from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Other products offered as “peptide treatment” have no FDA approval, so the name of the medicine matters.
- Start by asking for the medicine name and the intended use.
- Approved products containing semaglutide (Ozempic or Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro or Zepbound) existed as of September 26, 2026.
Does a prescription settle whether it is allowed?
No. A prescription orders your medicine. You still need to check the licence of the person who wrote it and the rules that apply to that medicine.
- As of September 26, 2026, federal rules still restrict which ingredients a pharmacy may use in made-to-order (compounded) medicines. They also limit making copies of approved medicines that are available ready-made.
- Ask the person writing your prescription which legal rule allows the ingredient and why a made-to-order version is needed for you.
Can the first visit happen online?
Yes. A first Texas online visit can start care through live video or review of relevant health records or images sent ahead. The visit must meet the same care requirements as an in-person visit, and you must agree to care after it has been explained.
- The rules checked September 26, 2026 do not list a phone call alone as a way for a new patient to start care. Phone-only care can qualify for existing patients or when someone is covering calls for their regular care.
- Ask what health information is needed and whether your problem needs tests or an in-person exam.
Does a licence mean every offer is approved?
No. State boards license people and pharmacies. FDA, short for Food and Drug Administration, handles medicine review as a separate task.
- As of September 26, 2026, compounded medicines lacked FDA approval, even when a licensed pharmacy prepared them.
- Look up the person writing your prescription and the pharmacy, then ask about the medicine itself.
Will the advertised cost include everything?
Ask for a written total. Of six national online weight-care services whose advertised prices were checked on September 26, 2026, five charged a monthly membership and billed medicine separately. Your own offer may differ.
- Request the ongoing fee as well as the starting offer.
- Include tests, follow-up, and any delivery charge in the comparison.
What can I ask without knowing the science?
Simple questions can open a useful discussion. Write them in the words you would use aloud.
- What condition are we treating?
- Why this medicine for that condition?
- What are the other options, including no medicine?
- What will we check later, and who will explain the results?
